Suffering and the Sovereignty of God

Tim has a missionary heart for his hometown to love those close to him yet far from God. He is husband to Dusti and father to Nolan, Aiden, and Adelyn - fellow pilgrims to our celestial city.

This is truly a remarkable testimony of a brother who has sweetly tasted the all-satisfying excellency of the sovereignty of God in the midst of lifelong, bitter suffering.  To the natural man, this just does not make sense, but to those who treasure Christ, it is an exclamation point–a very convicting and God-entranced exclamation point.

  1. Aunt Cheryl! Great to hear from you. Yeah, I was thinking to myself this morning,

    “So what’s your problem?”

I fear that living an “ordinary” life may lull us into missing out on the greatest, most extraordinary blessings. Such daily comforts I experience should be unwelcomed friends if I know what subversive results they produce in leading me to believe in false realities (like life is easy, painless, and inconsequential). And when we are awakened to the realities of life through suffering or extraordinary moments, it is then that we realize that have been rocked to sleep by the daily perpetual cadence of meaningless living. Like C.S. Lewis once said, God shouts through pain. Perhaps the reason the man in this video knows God so well is because he has heard him so clearly.

  2. WOW! that’s about all i can say after seeing this video.

i am in the midst of a personal trial right now and i’ve been rather whiney and pitiful about it. this video clip kinda smacked me in the face with the truth of God’s goodness.

    that’s just what i needed.

    Thank you.
