* Joe Thorn makes a sincere request for our friend and brother Steve McCoy. Speaking of Joe, he deserves a hearty congrats for having two of his photos in the new 2007 Chicago Public Radio calendar. He wrote, “A year ago I picked up a good camera and started taking pictures for two reasons: I enjoy it, and I hoped it would be another opportunity to connect with the community on a number of different levels. So far it has been a great experience.”
* Dr. Russell Moore recently wrote about the new Baptist Unity campaign under the leadership of former presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. According to ABP, Carter says, this will be “one of the most historic events at least in the history of Baptists in this country, maybe Christianity.” This won’t be the first time Carter got it wrong.
* Justin Taylor recently interviewed Dr. Tom Schreiner on baptism and the recent release of Believer’s Baptism.
* Desiring God recently provided the article that almost got John Piper fired, called “Missions and Masturbation.” Also, DG added a statement by Piper regarding his thoughts on his choice of language at Passion ’07. Finally, Wayne Grudem, a dear friend of Piper, provided an email response.
* Gary Shavely at the Resurgence blog recently interviewed Dr. Bruce Ware. You can download or listen to the interview online. Dr. Ware will be speaking at the Resurgence 2007 Spring conference on “Where the Hand of God and the Hands of Men Meet.” Note: The sessions look really good!
* On The Dividing Line, James White shared his reflections and differences with a very popular gospel presentation online called “Stop and Think” by Francis Chan. Frank Turk shared some of his thoughts as well (oh, and so did Dan Phillips). It looks like I am light years behind on this discussion, but I did notice that White provided a response to iMonk’s thoughts and response to him. In the end, White reminds us that theology matters.
* Ed Stetzer recently wrote an article entitled “Church and Contemporary Culture–Always a Challenge.” Worth a look.
* NOTBS is working on entering the blogosphere, beginning with interviews. So far they have interviewed Dr. Frank Page and Dr. Emil Turner (executive director of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention).
* Nathan Finn sets the record straight about Wade Burleson. Unfortunately, there are some “prominent” SBC bloggers who still just don’t get it.
* Finally, while doing a little searching, I noticed that several pastors from Northwest Arkansas have developed a group blog inspired by the Together for the Gospel conference and blog. It looks like they have a good format and considerable involvement.
