Prospectives for P&P

Tim has a missionary heart for his hometown to love those close to him yet far from God. He is husband to Dusti and father to Nolan, Aiden, and Adelyn - fellow pilgrims to our celestial city.

Over the course of this past year, I have been very intentional with the content on my blog. Much of the content reflects where I am in life, what I am learning, and the issues I find important to talk about. I have also attempted to balance the programming with various perspectives and themes, such as postings on stuff evangelical and SBC, new and old, popular and academic, research-oriented and personal commentary, while providing an array of resources through articles, links (quick hits), bibliographies, book previews (alerts), audio (mp3’s), videos, and live-blogging. My hope is that whenever someone chooses to visit my blog, they will find something that will help them in their pursuit of the glory of God and living out the gospel in their life. That pursuit entails loving God with all one’s heart (pantings) and mind (provocations), and if the Lord could use these offerings to encourage fellow believers in trusting God and treasuring Christ, then that gives me joy.

This next semester of school will be very challenging. I have a rather heavy schedule (five classes), will be preparing for our little one, and will also be working on several projects (not the least of which is discerning what the Lord has for me after seminary). Nevertheless, I have tried to streamline the content and posting for the rest of the year in order to give me greater discipline in writing and give you a heads up on what to expect.

Below is a prospective weekly posting schedule I am considering. This does not mean that I will post every day; rather, it is weekly framework to structure my thinking and let others know what to expect on any given day. Of course, if warranted, I will make exceptions to the programming, so this is simply where I am hoping to go over the next 4-6 months.

Those of you who have commented will know that I almost always respond to your thoughts. My reason for this is because I value the dialogue and contributions made, whether you agree with me or not. I am not a teacher but a fellow student and learner who has benefited much from the great folks whose words have been a great help to me. However, due to my school and work schedule, I will not be to interact and respond as much as I would like, so if I do not reply to your comments, please know that your thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

One final note. For the next week, I will continue my interaction with Dr. Garrett’s articles on “Dortian Calvinism.” On the docket include posts on providence, effectual calling, unconditional election, election and evangelism/missions, denominational unity, and a conclusion. I don’t know if I will get to all of them this week, but that should round out my current series. I hope you find the responses helpful, engaging, and charitable.
