If you have followed my blog for some time, you will know that my blogger profile picture is a self-portrait of me, bald-headed with a highligher at the Birmingham airport. Before that, I had a picture of me with long hair and a full-grown beard which some bloggers had some fun with. Since then, there have been several emails and admonishments for me to update my profile with a current picture of myself. My last correspondence ended with this comment:
Yeah, ironically it was my mother who alerted me to the fact that I looked like Ahmedinejad, and now she is spearheading the campaign to change my profile pic. Now others are jumping in. I am feeling the pressure. It’s a good think that I am not foreign to controversy. ๐
I don’t have a recent pic to replace it with. I guess I need to go with the warm, cuddly, not-so-terrorist looking picture of me. I will work on that one over the holidays.
But then again, if more people chime in for the Ahmedinejad look, there might be another “baptist battle” over this. Maybe we can one side make a declaration (“yes! we want Ahmedinejad look”) and the other can have a convergence (“no, you don’t look holy enough!”). Just kidding.
I am all about consensus. Maybe we can come together for the hairdo that makes me and all four of my readers happy. Let me get in touch with my blog committee, and then we might have a vote on it.
Well, one of the people on the P&P blog committee (correction: I was informed that he is on the committee on committees at P&P – my apologies) gave me a picture of him, my wife, and me at his graduation party. I cropped it to make a profile pic, so here it is.
What do you think? Less scary? No, Brad, it is not a turban. I’m still not sure about it. You know how some people have really cool, very stylish, definitely hip pictures of themselves? Well, I am not there yet. I just think it would be better for people to know what I look like on a street corner than on a highly photo-shopped glossy 8×10. So that’s my philosophy of a profile pic in a nutshell.
I think you should go with it.
It’s a nice pic Timmy. But why are you wearing underwear on your head? ๐
Thanks Joe. That would be insulated underwear. Gore-Tex style.
You can always get photo tips from Ego, er Ergun, Caner: http://www.erguncaner.com/home/downloads/posters_inserts.php
There are a couple of problems with that in my thinking.
1. I would never have a professional photo shoot of myself.
2. I would never have a professional photo shoot of myself on my website.
3. I would never have a professional photo shoot of myself on my website flashing on the front page.
4. I would never . . . well you get the point.
Yes, I knew better. I think I would be pretty embarrassed to have such a spread of me on my website. And I am about as “unphotogenic” as is Ego. (I mean Ergun)
I love the picture, you look so cute. Hope you are having a nice day.
Loveloli
Ah, Loli Now there are two people in the fam reading my blog (you and dad). I think mom is boycotting P&P until I get that professional look. I think I may have been traumatized with too many clip-on ties when I was a kid. Just kidding.
Great to hear from you. Check back soon!
