I’ve enjoyed the feedback and discussion my recent post on the the places and purposes of my work. I hope it was helpful for you. Several of the questions were related to my work experience and environment at Panera. So this morning, I decided to take a picture of my typical setup and show you what my “office” looks like.

A few inquires, from a pastor working at productivity:
– Could you describe briefly your writing utensils (“livescribe echo”?)
– GTD – I’m preparing to read David Allen’s book – I need to do something to be better organized and more productive – any insights?
David:
The Livescribe Echo is a smart-pen that allows you to take notes on digital paper while recording audio, syncing them together. It is pretty awesome. You can get the lowdown on it here – http://www.livescribe.com/en-us/smartpen/echo/
As far as GTD, I don’t really have any insights because my system is rather tailored to my ADD personality. Seriously, anyone who knows me will tell you that my work environment is controlled chaos with a twist of comedy.
Timmy,
A couple more questions:
1) How have you found the Echo to work, especially with your Mac? Does it do character recognition or just a picture format?
2) The spiral bound books: did you have these made?
Kevin:
Yes, the Echo works great. I haven’t had any problems with it. I had a Pulse before but accidentally ruined it. It recognizes characters because the paper you write on is a form of dot-matrix and is recorded through infared laser. You can also have your handwritten notes automatically transcribed in digital format and converted to PDF.
Yes, I made the spiral books. The Tim Keller Reader is something I made for the PLNTD Network which I lead, and the other spiral books are training manuals for the Porterbrook Network which I am affiliated.
I love your blog, Timmy. I was wondering if you are continuing to “accumulate” Scotty Smith’s quotes on “You’re growing in grace if…” I noticed that you posted two parts, but he has continued to post other quotes. I agree with you, they are very clever, humbling, convicting, and even sometimes encouraging for me as I continue to grow in grace.
Warm regards,
Greg
