Labor Day Photography News

Tim has a missionary heart for his hometown to love those close to him yet far from God. He is husband to Dusti and father to Nolan, Aiden, and Adelyn - fellow pilgrims to our celestial city.

Totally random, but I thought I’d mention a couple of photography-related items of interest this Labor Day.

* This guy has a massive review of the new Canon 40D.  Nice!

* The September 2007 issue of Popular Photography has the “Top 25 Best Buys of 2007” with the Nikon D40 topping the list.

* Circuit City is selling the Sandisk Ultra II 4GB card for only $59.99.  That’s a really good price for a 4GB high speed CF card.  The 2GB is on sale for $34.99.  This sale unfortunately is good only for Labor Day (today).

*  CompUSA wants to one-up Circuit City’s sale by going with the Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card for the same price ($59.99).  This is one of the fastest cards out, both writing and reading.  This sale is good through Saturday, September 8, 2007.

  1. Thanks for the heads up, Timmy.

I ran out and got the 4GB CF card from Comp USA, which jumped me up from a 1 GB card I bought when I got the camera a couple of months ago. Hey, it was all they had, and I haven’t had time to do different. 🙂

Anyway, you give great photo advice and excellent tech knowledge as well. I’m loving the Adobe Lightroom you recommended.

    Thanks, man.

  2. Art,

You’re welcome brother. The 4GB will go a long way, even when shooting RAW (which I recommend). I really don’t like having to carry around 6-8 cards in my pouch, so I am trying to get rid of my 1GB and 2GB cards and work towards the 4GB and 8GB cards. Funny thing is last year the same 4GB Extreme III cards were at least three times what they are now I am glad I didn’t buy them then.

I really need to get some more photography posts up. With my focus on school and reading, I am having very little time to spend on extracurricular hobbies. Nevertheless, I am going to try to draft some ideas for the future.

    Grace,

    TNB

  3. Awesome. I look forward to them.

I also remind you, and your readers, that if you are in school or are a teacher (my wife is both) Campus Tech (campustech.com) has great discounts for the programs you might be using. I got the Lightroom program for a huge discount through my wife’s enrollment. Technically, she got it and gave it to me. 🙂

Anyway, I know what it is to pinch pennies and students need it more than anyone.

    Blessings.
