20 years ago, I was a newly married man headed to Louisville, Kentucky as a student of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. During that season of my life, I endeavored to keep in touch with family and friends (this was before social media ubiquity). Instead of a regular email newsletter, I took the advice of friends and create an online blog, which I named Provocations & Pantings. What I did not realize is that this little space on the internet would lead to a decade of writing, networking, and sharing my life with the world.
Some ten years have passed since I regularly posted on this blog. During this span of time, I frequently reflected on the previous ten years. Why did people pay attention to what I said? How did all of that come about? It certainly wasn’t any plan on my part. But God as would have it, this blog would introduce me to some wonderful people and give me an opportunity to encourage, challenge, and hopefully edify people from all over the world. Overall, I would say that despite the occasional debates and controversies, blogging was a great blessing in my life.
I would imagine that a lot has changed over the past 10 years. I can testify that I have changed (hopefully for the better). But what has not changed for me is a love to write and encourage others with my journey and journaling through the things God has been working in me. Over the past few weeks, I worked to find out how, if possible, I could revive the old blog and start again. Unfortunately it appears I’m unable to recover about 4 years worth of posts, but a good portion remains.
In the digital age, blogging may not be what it was when I began, but I have sufficient encouragement from the Lord and from others to steward this new season in my life and bring back Provocations & Pantings. I hope you will stick around and invite a friend or two to join in the conversation. I’ll do my best to make it worthwhile!
I still have some tweaks here and there, but I’m excited to get things going. To everyone who found me online in the past, I hope we meet again, old friends.
Tim
