I started a new series on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, called “50¢ Word(s) of the Day”. Here’s the fourth installment from this past week:
Monday: lex moralis –> the moral law (Decalogue, distinguished from lex ceremonialis and lex civilis)
Tuesday: munus triplex –> threefold office of Christ (munus propheticum, munus sacerdotale, and munus regium)
Wednesday: inscriptio legis Dei in corda –-> the inscription of the law of God upon the heart (Jer. 31:33; NC promise)
Thursday: habitus fidei –> habit or disposition of faith (spiritual capacity given by God to believe)
Friday: oratio, meditatio, tentatio faciunt theologum –> prayer, meditation, & trial make the theologian; a maxim of Luther
Saturday: imputatio satisfactionis Christi –> Christ’s righteous satisfaction imputed; the objective basis of justifcation
